Morande Wine Group’s Chardonnay wines received excellent scores granted in the context of the Global Chardonnay Masters 2020, a competition held last December by The Drinks Business, one of the leading European publication.
This well-known contest, organized by one of the most prestigious publications worldwide, includes high-quality judges and unique tasting processes. Every wine is evaluated according to the taste of its grape and the winemaker’s skill to obtain the best expression of one particular variety. We are pleased to share with you the medals and scores granted by the Global Chardonnay Masters 2020 to our wines made with this variety.
Viña Morandé
In the category of ‘Unoaked still Chardonnay under £10’, our Morandé Estate Reserve Chardonnay 2019 from the Casablanca Valley received Gold Medal and 91 points. This wine expresses the identity of our terroirs through vineyards planted in high-density.
Our Morandé Gran Reserva Chardonnay 2019, also from the Casablanca Valley, received Silver Medal and 90 points. The fermentation of this wine takes place in foudres and using 40% of grapes with their skins.
Viña Vistamar
Our Viña Vistamar Corte de Campo Coastal White 2018, a juicy blend of Chardonnay and Viognier, stands out in the £10 to £15 category with Silver Medal and 91 points.
Our Gran Reserva Chardonnay 2019 and our Chardonnay Reserva 2020 also obtained Silver Medal and 90 points for their delicious acidity and lively body on the palate.
On the other hand, our Chardonnay Brisa, of excellent value, conquered Bronze Medal.
Viña Mancura
In the category under £10, our Mito Chardonnay 2019, which includes 15% of Viognier, obtained Silver Medal and 90 points for its complexity and elegance on the palate.
Our Guardian Chardonnay 2019 from the Maule Valley was acknowledged with a Silver Medal and 91 pints for its structure and freshness. Whereas our Etnia Chardonnay 2020 also received Silver Medal and 89 points.
